Research - My Genre

As a combined group decision, both myself and Holly have decided that we will produce our film opening on the Horror genre, more specifically, Supernatural horror. We chose this genre , partly due to the convenient location and setting. With a conventional horror being set in a isolated location, such as a woodlands or forest.Which , coincidentally, surrounds my house, therefore we have decided to film our production here, as it meet the conventions of the genre.
A Horror genre film is also, in my opinion, the most effective genre, when attempting to use a range of varied shots, effects and lightning. We also feel that we will be able to create the appropriate mood/atmosphere for the film, with dark lighting and eerie incidental and non-diegietic music.
We do also have a added advantage ,with our older sibling , being in the media industry, having access to advantage extent amounts of equipment, such as microphones and a tripod. Which will help increase the quality of our clip, with the camera being stabilized  with clear fluent sound. His advanced experience and expertise will also help us when editing and developing our clip, to insure it's produced at a highly professional standard.
The props used, due to it being a supernatural Horror, will be generalized, such as using bike, however the antagonists costume will be conventional to a horror, with it being torn and dirty. The makeup palette used will be very neutral, with little, if not any, makeup used throughout.

Picking Supernatural Horror as our genre for our production was somewhat questionable, due to the fact we have had no past experience into how to create and produce this type of film. However after researching we agreed it seemed the most appropriate option, as we could accommodate the conventions of the genre the most effectively.

We have recently, and will continue to, watch openings of our genre to provide us with extended inspiration to help us with our initial ideas and to strengthen our story boarding.
