Research- BBFC Certification

After gathering the results from our target audience questionnaire we have decided to produce or film for the certification of 15 years and above.
This is because our opening is suitable for teenagers and young adults, we have chosen this because the characters will be of a similar age therefore the audience can relate more to them.Which could make our film opening to seem more realistic and engaging.

Also, by carrying out some extra research on Supernatural Horror genre movies, the majority of them have a BBFC Certification of 15, with the exception of a some being 18, however these are generally psychological horrors, such as Manhunt.

Pictures of researched supernatural horrors;

1. 15 BBFC

Both these films have the BBFC Certification of 15. This is because a 15 rating films contain;

•  Strong language
•  Strong violence
•  Drug taking
•  Sexual nudity
•  Portrayals of sexual activity

2. 18 BBFC

Both of these supernatural film's have a certification of 18, because they include;

•  Very strong language
•  Very strong violence
•  Scenes of sexual violence
•  Real sex (in some circumstances)
•  Strong blood and gore
•  Strong horror

As we will be producing a film opening with a BBFC Certification of 15 we need to ensure that we make the contents only suitable for that rating and not to include anything that will be inappropriate or to mature , causing it to be a 18 rating film instead.
